My DeviantArt Story

Since apparently today is DeviantArt's birthday, I thought I might as well do this whole "DeviantArt" story thing too. Some of you probably know already, but for those who don't know I'll try to summarize it as best as I can:

Ever since I was little, I always loved to draw. Me and my older brother would love drawing random pictures together, even creating our own mini imaginary universe where our family pets were the main characters (yeah I know, a silly idea but shush XD). Most of the time it was just nonsensical stories we'd make up, and it bring some good laughs to both of us during hard times in our childhoods. Eventually though, my brother has moved on from drawing and went to pursue other hobbies...but drawing still stuck with me for some reason.

This passion continued up into middle school and junior high...though at the same time, I was a bit stumped of what to do with my talent. My teachers told me that I would make a great artist one day...and some of my classmates seemed to agree to...but deep down I wasn't always so sure. Being a bit of a shy person in real life didn't help either, as most often I would try to hide my work and throw it away so no one would see it. I was worried that they might find some of my drawing ideas to be "weird" (and admittedly, some of them were), as well as I felt like I didn't have anyone trusting enough to show my work to. 

That is...until I was in highschool and I saw that my brother was blogging on this one site called DeviantArt. I didn't really pay mind to it at first, thinking that it was just that...a random blogging site. I had other sites to attend to anyway, like Fanfiction.net and Youtube. It was only after I turned 15 that I got interested enough to join the party too, and that's lead to me where I am today. Sure, I've had some obstacles and challenges along the way, but it was worth getting the chance to be a part of a great art community. So, that's the gist of how I joined DeviantArt...and here are two examples (per year) of my progress from 2012 to 2014 (currently)

2012:

*
Buttercup was (and still is) my favorite Powerpuff Girl, so I thought it'd be really cool to showcase not just her, but also her mirror counterpart Brute. I was really involved with the PPG fandom at this time, in fact I think it was pretty much all I did I think...

*
Starting at the end of 2012, I got into the Danny Phantom fandom after rewatching the series again on the internet. Ironically, when I was younger I didn't pay much heed to this show...but it's really been inspiring to me even at this point in time today. 



2013

*
Rarity is my favorite Mane 6 pony, so I just wanted to draw her lovely self at random one day. Not sure why I drew her with the glasses, hairbun, and fire-ruby necklace...they just really seemed to look good on her in my opinion But anyway, this was at the point where I started getting more involved with MLP here and there


*Brighton was my first technical PPG fan-kid (not counting Venom), so around this time of the year I thought it'd be funny to see him showing off like usual, as a bloodthirsty zombie hunter. A simple piece at that, but if it hadn't been for Brighton, I don't think I would get so involved with developing my fan-families at this point in time

2014

*
I've grown pretty fond of Sedusa at this point (she's now one of my favorite PPG villains next to HIM and the GGG), and so I wanted to draw her lovely self yet again...only this time as the classy Disney Villainess Maleficent (in honor of the recent movie release). I really thought this would make for a fitting crossover for some reason

N became one of my new favorite Pokemon characters after I bought and played Pokemon White and Pokemon Black 2, seeing him for what an interesting and thought-provoking person he was outside of just the typical "bad boy" that girls find "dreamy". So, awhile ago I decided to draw him up and only recently finished the picture with some coloring and voila~ Instant N (I think this point it shows that I can draw more then just uber kawaii anime faces all the time...like my previous 2012 self did -_-)
